A little while ago I complained about The Last Airbender’s lack of good character writing. Having now finished it and given it a few days to digest, I’m here to report back.
It did get better. Not astoundingly better, but as the crew grew there was lots more room for interesting dynamics to play out, giving characters better chances to shine. They started tying plot threads together really nicely, and really fleshed out the important character arcs, and sometimes there simply was no space for filler-like character interaction.
Though I have some beef with it, AtLA still holds up. 7/10 would rewatch again.
