It’s really interesting to look at ideologies and beliefs not from a political viewpoint, but a virology one. How do they evolve, spread? What can/can’t they be defeated by? How did it get to be this way and what makes it so good?

    I suppose you could look at them like any living system, even though they’re not a living system. They reach a point at which things really take off, and then a point at which things either change or die.

    This might be what Richard Dawkins was writing about when saying memes (not the stupid facebook variation) were the thought-version of genes, but I’ve never read enough about it to be sure.
