Plot scale

Infinity War seems neat I guess, but also kinda endless?

Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s great. “Most ambitious crossover”, no idea how true that claim is, but it’s a big one for sure. And it’s part of the grander superhero story that many smaller ones have been leading up to. This makes for a huge world with a huge backstory and even bigger options down the line. That’s impressive!

But it’s also too big to easily become invested in I feel? There’s nothing really here that you can just grab with one hand, no, you have to use both. And I’m not always in the mood for that. I rarely am! As fun as worldbuilding is, stories of smaller scale or scope are just more likely to keep me engaged.

They can start doing what they want to do faster, I guess. For Infinity War, I (not really but kinda do) have to see all Marvel movies before it.

I’m not a big fan of “epic” battles in movies. I always sort of separate myself from the action at such times, especially when it involves CGI fire (like in all those DC closing battle scenes).

Also not a big fan of comic book movies, although I saw a lot I liked in the last “Thor” film.

I’m not the target audience for this movie. Even Marvel does smaller scale films occasionally, and I’ll probably end up seeing those.
