Fang Talks

Apparently sporting goods stores just don’t carry skates anymore?

I’ve been thinking of trying out inline skating for a while. Now that I’ve found a friend to roll with, and the weather getting better again, I figured there’s no better time to start. Except I don’t haven any gear yet! So sure, I’ll go out and buy some, how hard can it be? Pretty hard, it turns out.

Three different cities, six different stores I visited. You just can’t buy skates anywhere! Okay, honest, one store did have them… but they were all kids ones! None of the other ones actually stocked them, and I even got told “not anymore” twice! What gives? Hell, they have them available online, so why not in the store itself?

I really would’ve liked to try a pair on, what with sizing and all, but I ended up just ordering online. We’ll see if they’re good enough when they get here. The return policy seems nice enough, you can return them for a different size pair free of charge.

Wish I could’ve tried them on in VR…

Seems like the kind of thing you’d have to try on. Hope they fit. I’ve thought about it, too, but I am so clumsy that getting a pair sounds like the precursor to the story of “What Ever Happened to Harry?”
