I would’ve titled this “archeology” but we’re not going far enough back for that.
It’s always interesting, going back and reading old documentation. It’s a good way to see what has changed, both technically and pedagogically. Docs are more than just the things they describe after all. A lot is said through the way they describe it.
While the technical details of these old stories may not be relevant forever, changes in structure and explanation will always be worthwhile to take note of. Good docs progress towards clarity, accessibility and usability. What changes were made over time to optimize for those?
Also, how much of the original cult-ish-ness has remained?
