Somehow made it back home from FOSDEM in one piece, what do you know.
I still can’t believe how many people actually attended that. Not that I know the exact numbers, but the ULB’s campus was absolutely swarming with hackers of all kinds. My talk got a full room of viewers. Worse, we were barred entry from nearly every room after because they were all straight-up filled to the legal limits with people. Like six buildings!
That’s definitely a great win for free and open software though. The entire event is more or less community-run and funded by participants and sponsors. It’s grown into the biggest event in Europe, and apparently still growing every year.
It was good being there. Really exciting to see what everyone’s working on and passionate about!
