Crafted world

Surely we can construct a world that’s better than the real thing?

We’re making insane advances in all kinds of fields and it doesn’t even faze us anymore. We’re building virtual spaces for us to do activities in, making pretty-much-identical bio-foods in factories, and imitating complex biological processes so that we may free ourselves from the burden of perpetuating life. Now ain’t that some shit?

This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I welcome these changes. Not for any grand philosophical or, shudder, political reason. Hell, I could argue rapid change may not be in our best interest. No, I really just want to see these things let loose on our world. How far can we take them? How will it shape us? What cool experiences can it offer me?

Not sure if that makes me an accelerationist or something more akin to a mad scientist.

    Bring on our dystopian future!

I look forward to seeing what develops, too, but I’m heading towards getting old and have no kids I’m concerned about, so there’s only so much at stake for me, I guess.
