I am not a morning person. My brain is just too slow to boot from sleep.
Luckily, the brain isn’t needed for everything that’s on my daily task-list, so I still have a few things I can do while slowly crawling my way up to peak mental performance. Mainly, these are tasks for the body. A morning walk or even run on the nicer days gets the blood pumping. Bad weather makes it less attractive, but it’s usually still worth it.
Knowing it’s gonna be worth it isn’t very valuable though, during those times of half-awake brain. Luckily our lizard brains are drawn to regularity, a fact we can abuse to make choosing the best option easier. We form a habit. Or, if you’re all about numbers, a streak.
And you all know I’m a sucker for those.
