Where the start of the journey is waiting for the fucking bus to arrive.
Dogs are objectively the best, there’s no two ways about it. In contrast, allergies are subjectively the worst. They rob you of experiences and sometimes replace them with great pain, and there’s not much you can do about it yourself. You can’t hit the gym, lawyer up and hope to beat them that way. In some cases though, there are other options.
Having suffered from pet allergies all my life, I am now finally taking steps to get rid of them. Well, I’m not entirely sure what we’ll be getting rid of exactly. All I care about is my allergy for dogs. It isn’t super bad, my reaction to cats is much worse, but it’s enough to make me not want to live with a dog in my house… even though that’s something I actually really do want.
I should’ve been doing this quite a few years ago, but this week I called around and ended up making some appointments at a hospital. Early November I’m getting my blood collected, and then early December I’ll be returning to do some tests and discuss my options. At least, that’s how I think it’s gonna go. And I’m gonna hit them with the “whatever it takes, doctor”.
What follows is likely a multi-year process before we actually reach our destination, but I’ve waited this long, I can wait a few years longer.
