Everything the light touches is ours to destroy.
Technology is in a very poor state right now. Experience-wise, security-wise, implementation-wise, it’s all garbage. We can do so much better. I’m very passionate about actually contributing to that, and there’s a bunch of efforts out there that try and push things in the right direction. They and the issue they tackle don’t seem to be getting very widespread coverage though, like nobody cares.
And while this frustrates me, I wouldn’t at all be surprised if this is the case for other fields of work as well. All we ever get presented with is the fancy and interesting things that make their way outside. All jank generally gets contained quite neatly by the people working at the forefront: they have a public expectation to fulfill, after all.
But then, I also don’t see any other field as nearly as important to get right as tech. After all, it’s consuming all other fields, every facet of our lives, and the entirety of what we imagine the future might look like. Whether a better future for tech then also means a better future for all other fields, I can’t say with certainty, but it’ll definitely be a good start.
Let’s get to work.
