Really Stupid Injury

It begins

I’m gonna be attending a wedding party of one of our friends tonight.

She’s early to the getting married game. The first of our group. But this means that it has begun and others will follow eventually. Of course it was always an eventuality, one of those things waiting to happen. But this is first significant step of our group of friends evolving into what you’d more quickly label as a group of adults. Of course there’s a few others that already live together with their partners, but this feels much more official.

This doesn’t mean we’re an unyouthful bunch of boring old sacks though. Fingers are definitely crossed for an open bar, and the afterparty we’re going to build is bound to be a great wild get-together. Things aren’t going to change just because one of us got married. Not immediately, at least. So I’ll take comfort in that.

Oh how quickly the days of youth fly by.

Luckily for me I distanced myself from my group before they started getting married.

Dude, you’re missing out on all the “how long will they last” drama.

My younger brother and my friends and even my exes all have spouses and kids now. I don’t. Marriage doesn’t change friendships as much as having kids does.

Sometimes, I think I missed the train. Usually, I don’t worry much about it.
