I have successfully debuted cryptocurrency trading in Urbit!
There were a lot of people at the meetup last night. I think this is the most we’ve ever had show up! And in front of that crowd, I demo’d integration with Block.io. After making an account there, you can send and receive Bitcoin, Litecoin and Dogecoin using your Urbit! Cryptocurrency trading has long been an example of the things Urbit can and should offer, and now it does. It’s not quite a wallet on your Urbit yet, but it’s getting there!
I still have to write up a post on how people can get set up with this, but once I do, I hope tipping people in talk becomes regular practice. Something we see too much on the internet is people being entitled to things, expecting to get it all for free. If we can get widespread adoption of tipping of shitcoins, maybe that’s a good first step towards sending tributes to the network infrastructure to help keep them online.
We’ll have to see how this evolves, I can only imagine it being exciting!
