Manual labor is good for body and soul.
When a new trail needs some finishing touches, and it’s National Trails Day, there’s only one logical thing to do. You pull in a bunch of volunteers and finish the thing that’s been in the making for two years! A new trail has now officially opened on Mt. Sutro. Sustainable paths, trailhead marker plates, the whole shebang!
I had never involved myself in such a project before, so it was interesting to see what kind of work goes into creating multi-use trails. And apparently there’s lots more going on behind the scenes in regards to route and event planning, and god knows how much bureaucratic hassle.
Fun and satisfying to work on something like this though. I should go hike that trail soon!
