I went to see live music last night!
There’s this cool bar about two blocks from my “office”. Nearly every time I walked by there coming back from work, there were local artists playing on the tiny stage. Very varied things, too. Bluegrass, jazz, good ol’ covers. Finally went and dropped by for a nice show of hot jazz. The duo was great fun. swingy tunes, jokes in between songs, what more do you want?
Overheard some people chatting about bikes, figured I could ask them for location recommendations. Friendly bunch! One was a guy who was passionate about getting people jobs. He’s going to Amsterdam next week, fun! Two were an older couple, here in San Francisco for the nostalgia. Overly sweet lady. We talked about the city, work, the nature. Good times.
People seem pretty open with each other here. Things feel more genuine. Or maybe it’s just the mysticism of “foreign culture”. Either way, I kinda like it!
I’m really starting to find my rhythm here. Still don’t think I’d do this for the long-term though.
