“If you get what you want the minute you want it, then what’s the point of living?”
This is true for every facet of life, and the reason why playing difficult games in god-mode becomes boring so quickly. It wouldn’t surprise me if humans are wired to ever so slightly prefer hard work over laziness, because those who don’t hunt die of starvation. In the modern world though, we can get by on minimal effort. Getting by isn’t an ideal though, you gotta go beyond! A little struggle builds character, and maybe even better results.
I’m not saying living life on the edge of ruin is a good thing. My heart goes out to everyone who has to deal with that. But for non-essential activities, it can be fun and rewarding to push yourself into uncomfortable territory. Exercise is a good example of this. Instead of saying “this is as much as I can do”, try and remove that mental chain. Actually go as far as you can go, until you nearly collapse to the ground, until you feel like you’re about to destroy every fiber in your body.
Maybe I’m a bit of a masochist, but I like that.
