No escape

On the one hand, I really want to be able to filter out all politics from the media I consume. On the other, implications.

It’s getting kind of crazy how such a large part of the media I consume is tainted by political agendas. If it’s not a story very obviously revolving around how x is right and y is wrong, then there’s plenty of people doing commentary and explaining why this or that should be seen as an endorsement or teardown of whatever they’re pushing for to be the status quo.

I don’t even really care if it’s something I agree with or not, it’s just that people are pushing their agendas fucking everywhere. If we’re at the point where I can’t go a day without someone shouting politically-loaded words onto my screen, then that’s a day I feel we’ve gone too far.

But then, is this not being close-minded? Is it not important for people to be able to voice their opinions, and for have those opinions heard? Would opting out of hearing those opinions restrict free speech, would it fuel ignorance?

I’m playing with fire, but I just want a break.

Getting a break from it is good. I want to be more politically active. But to load everything up with political opinions is tiring.
