Public voice

There’s something I really want to talk about, but can’t just yet.

It’s so weird. I know for a fact not too many people hang around here, so I’m probably good, but I’d rather not risk this being one of the rare moments someone who isn’t supposed to be in the know yet drops by for a quick look. That’s the thing about speaking in public (though I guess this holds more true for the digital public), you’re either all-in or all-out. I can’t (ethically) restrict viewing of posts to a subset of my readers.

That’s just a trade-off for getting to yell into the wild like this though. And I wouldn’t trade it away, it definitely helps you keep your potential audience in mind. Not that I use that in any way, but still a good thing to be conscious of. Someone got mad at me once for writing an exaggerated (heh, sensationalized) description of their less than ideal shenanigans, and the brief fallout from that did teach me some things about being mindful and staying polite.

But hey, what else was a frustrated late teen to do?

Well, if it makes you feel any better, what you’ve posted is nothing compared to what we’ve posted/still continue to post, and we’ve both resolved ourselves to the fact that no employer would ever have us, so long as they Google our names for a background check.
