Fang Talks

I feel like I’m way behind the curve on these things, but I attended a wedding for the first time today.

The couple had rented a beautiful location in what I can only describe as the most mountainous part of the Netherlands (which means gently rolling hills abound), and held a traditional wedding ceremony. You know how it goes, the whole shebang. It was really nice to witness, but I’m not sure I’d ever go for something like that myself.

Obviously the desires of my partner would play a big role in this, but I’m personally not super hyped about marriage outside of the legal side of things, especially all the ceremony surrounding it. I can see the appeal of it, but it’s just not for me? I’d rather just invite a couple friends over to the pub after signing some documents.

But then I’m usually not one for extravaganzas anyway.

You really are behind the curve if that was your first wedding. I’ve been to about four now I think. Then again, I do have a sister who has married twice. I can see the appeal of a big fancy wedding and I’m a bit of a traditionalist so I think I can expect that’s what I’ll end up with.
