Divisiveness

What a weird word to spell.

People these days are so divided, and it’s getting kind of scary. Though we preach acceptance, it’s becoming increasingly more common to vilify whatever political opinion doesn’t align with what you feel is right and holy. There’s no room for middle ground there either, you’re either for or against something, anything else just gets you the hate from both sides.

I can’t help but see this as a bad sign. The internet is sort of okay at uniting people on a global scale, but at the same time also pushes existing groups further apart. Everything is polarizing because everything reaches everyone, often blown out of proportion too.

Everyone’s screaming at everyone else for saying or thinking what they feel is right. This isn’t the kind of situation we fought for, is it?

This has been troubling me more lately. I agree that the way we get our news drives everyone to the edges of the political spectrum.

I know a lot of conservaitves even though I’m not, but they are fairly mainstream, moderate conservatives.

The conservative internet tends to label moderates and mainstream folks as impure. “Republicans in name only” in the States.

They get driven further to the right over time.
