Phonegazing

Apparently mobile as a platform for day-to-day computing needs is pretty popular?

Of course, nobody in their right mind is doing their spreadsheeting on their three-inch smartphone, but judging from how many mobile users I see on the web, lots of people do their daily browsing on the things. And that surprised me, because I have a hard time imagining a life where I surf the tubes with something I can’t even comfortably stand on.

To me, it’s always such a relief to sit down in front of a lap- or desktop after having been stuck with smaller screens all day. There’s so much room, so much real estate to work with. Maybe it’s a weird, digital form of claustrophobia? I just wouldn’t want to work with such little space all day long, it feels very restricting.

Not to mention how, even in the current year, mobile support isn’t always great. Hell, this blog is pretty guilty of it. Rework Soon™, but I said that last year as well. Oh, how time flies when you’re not sticking to your words.

I really should get to that though, but then maybe I want to leave WordPress too. Tough choices.

I hardly use my phone for anything. Well, i talk on it. Like a phone. And I text. And I have music on it. But I don’t use it for much else.

I have a colleague at work who uses it as a Nook, meaning she is sitting there at lunch reading books on her phone.

    I’m not there yet.
