And you stare at it, like a deer caught in the headlights, and you’re trying to tell fight from flight.
You get the chance to do something cool. Something you’re passionate about, something you just know will be worth the time and effort. Something that will open up more paths, or simply be a good experience at the very least. You want to reach out, grab it, almost choke it but not quite. Because hey, what could go wrong?
What could go wrong? Oh how wrong it could go. It could go not as planned, it could go worse than planned. What if you fuck it up? Lives aren’t on the line, but the opportunity is. What if you squander it, don’t get the best case results out of it? Someone else could do better in your shoes, so maybe step aside, maybe wait it out.
But in the end, what really is there to lose that you’re not already missing out on by idling? Even if it all amounts to nothing, it will still be an experience. Something you can talk about having done, however poorly, rather than having nothing to speak of at all.
Cool news soon, maybe. Here’s hoping.
