Waiting for news of the “this might be bad” kind.
The company I’m interning at is currently in the process of doing a reorganization. They’re taking a good hard look at the things they want to accomplish, and how the roles of employees play part in that. They’ll likely shuffle some definitions and numbers around, and that may mean people getting moved to different teams, positions, or just straight-up laid off.
While that’s already not the best news in and of itself, it’s also not coming along very quickly. Within big organizations these things obviously take a lot of time, which means it’s weeks if not months between “hey we’re gonna do a thing” and “oops goodbye”. For people trying to keep a steady living (read: pretty much everyone), that time can be quite uneasy. Who knows when you’re gonna hear you’ll be thrown overboard?
It’s all much more nuanced than that, of course, but it’s still not the prettiest of circumstances.
