21/01/2011 never forget

If you were expecting me to finish a reference here then sorry, but you’re wrong.

Too many times I tell myself “I shouldn’t forget X happens in a couple days”, “oh I should write about Y sometimes”, and then within the hour I forget all about it. Fast-forward a few days later, I have a “oh damn it’s almost Z” moment. That cycle keeps happening until I either do something relating to the thing, or it’s too late. This is why you write things down, set automatic reminders, and tell everyone you know you’re going to help them help you remember.

Last year I actually forgot all about the blog’s (fourth!) birthday. January 21st, not that hard a date to remember. But it just didn’t spring to mind. Where all the past years I had done something like revamp the blog, or at least write a celebratory post, I just didn’t even think about it. A couple weeks later, “oh shit, I forgot that thing didn’t I?”

Now I still haven’t set a reminder, but I do know that the fifth year is about to come to a close. Unsurprisingly, the days to posts ratio is still one to one! I’ve written so much junk about so many topics over the years, I can barely remember a tiny percentage of it. Imagine if I could.

Don’t worry, I won’t forget this year. I’ll do something special, a cute little summary of the past five years. Get hype!

That’s amazing. You still average almost one a day after 5 years?!

I make exactly one post every single day. It’s always been like that.
