Lossless split

Don’t worry, I won’t be talking about audio files.

Today the last few matches of the European LCS (League of Legends Championship Series) were played. One of the older teams, Fnatic, ended up with eighteen wins and zero losses. Yes, zero losses. They truly are head and shoulders above all other teams this split. After they had secured enough wins to have a guaranteed spot in playoffs (to see who gets to go to the world championship), they stopped giving fucks and just experimented a bit, sometimes playing sloppy on purpose for the first few minutes to they get to practice playing from behind.

And they still stomped the opposition! It’s absolutely crazy how good they are compared to the other teams. When playing against them you can’t make a single mistake or they will punish you for it, hard. Eighteen games, they didn’t lose a single one. Mad props.

If I had to bet, I’d say they’re going to be the prime team representing Europe in the world championship. Even with all their wins, they never lost the “we must get better” mentality. Some of the games they came out more sad than the team they crushed, simply because they didn’t play as good as they know they should’ve.

Congratulations to Fnatic on the lossless split, and let us take inspiration from their mentality: always improve.

It’s really weird to me to think that we’re talking about people playing a video game when using words like “playoff” and “World championship”.

Get used to it, esports is on the rise! EPSN2 recently streamed a DOTA championship. There was a lot of lash-back (“this isn’t a sport”, “wtf”, etc) but it’s a step in the right direction.
