Fang Talks

It's not a bug, it's a feature!

That’s all everything is, right?

Been going for walks in through the local pieces of nature lately, and it’s all pretty great. There’s a lot of interesting stuff to be seen, like cute little lizards scuttling away as soon as you see them. I always try to get as close a look as possible, see what they’re all about. You know, get to know the wildlife a little. As great as it is though, I think I’ll have a different perspective on it when I return from my adventures in Peru.

Thing is, the Netherlands is (are?) a small country. Our mountains are hills, our wildlife is life, and it’s all just a little on the small side compared to the rest of the world. Yet I can still look up at a tree and go “holy shit that thing’s fucking huge!” Imagine what my reaction will be when I look up at one of those ancient mega-trees in the Amazon. Those things are even bigger! And after an encounter with a crocodile or whatever, little bush-lizards won’t be nearly as neat as they used to be.

That’s what I think will happen, at least. But who knows, maybe I’ll get a new-found appreciation of the more tame things in nature.

And yet big or small they all have their part in nature, which is kind of cool when you think about it. I like the small ones. Much less likely to eat me.

Speaking of small ones, I’m currently rehabilitating this guy. He was left for dead in my driveway, and is so young his eyes still aren’t open. He’s doing much better now, though. Will probably post about it soon(ish). :)
