Not a rant on modern-day writing culture, but rather an update regarding my past and future activities in writing.
First of all, Caves. The story may be over, but the work is far from finished. I’ll do my best to force myself to rewrite it, maybe dedicate a couple days to that this summer. Goal here is to get something that’s even remotely publishable. Though you won’t see me stepping to an actual publisher trying to pitch my story, there is a decent chance physical copies will get distributed… That is, if I ever start and finish rewriting and doing lots of editing. (Honestly, the chances are slim it’ll ever happen, so don’t get your hopes up. But you never know!)
I obviously won’t be posting every rewritten part on here, that’d be silly. Then what writing things can you expect from now on? I got a children’s detective series I’m currently fleshing out. Charlie and Pip Squeak, how does that sound? Yeah, fucking rubbish. But that’s not what’s important, yet! It’ll likely be written in parts which make up episodes. The episodes can probably be read in any order. I’ve got a generic outline, some characters, but there’s still a lot of work to do before I can actually write a decent episode for this.
I’m also looking into a weird style of comedy? I want to write a bunch of short, stand-alone, sketch-like stories, revolving around a weird idea about alternate universes. I’m not yet sure how I’m going to make that work. Keeping the humor fresh and surprising seems challenging, and I’ve never even written humorous pieces before, so prep your parachutes in case we crash and burn.
And of course there’s a few short stories I may write out, or free-write if I feel like it. The usual?
