Fang Talks

It's not a plot hole, it's a plot device!

Let me start this off by saying I have not yet played Goat Simulator myself. I’ve just seen a couple people play it, and feel like there’s stuff to say already.

Goat Simulator is great. It’s weird, it’s crazy, and though you’ll be done with it after an hour or six, those will be some very well-spent hours. GS is a perfect example when it comes to putting “it’s not a bug, it’s a feature” to good use. On its own the game is already bizarre enough as is. You play as a goat and get points for mad air and fucking shit up. But then the physics. Oh man, it’s glitchy as fuck, but they turned things around and put that to good use. It adds to the hilarity of the game.

You won’t hear me saying GS is the pinnacle of game design or whatever, no way, but it’s still a great game. It’s just downright silly, the creator’s in on the joke and just rolls with it. Honestly, I want to see more of these kind of games made. It’s always been fun to mess around with bugs in games, so why not make a game whose gameplay revolves around that?

I think we’ll be seeing similar titles, though I’m not sure how well those’ll live up to the standard set by Goat Simulator. Then again, that’s what it’s all about, isn’t it? Screw the standard, we got fun.

I’ll probably buy the game soon, just to see how it feels to play.
