Got 'em boys!

Chances are I’ll only be getting 6 hours of sleep tonight… if not less.

With the schedule for this period I have to get up hella early every day. 6:30 AM on Mondays, 6:00 AM on all others. And let me tell you, it’s pretty bad. Getting up isn’t even the worst part here. Sure the fact that winter’s closing in makes it so that it’s a freezing fucking tundra everywhere except your comfy little bed, it’ll cling to you and beg you to crawl back into it like the lazy slow you actually are. But I punch through that, I go about my business, leave the house on time and catch my train.
But then it sets in.

You spend the next hour sitting in the train jumping between the states of sleeping and listening to that smelly old man clear his throat. The very fact you can actually listen to it and still sleep soundly afterwards indicates there’s still a lot of Z’s to catch up on. Those measly six hours just weren’t enough, were they? Nope, not by a long shot.

School in the morning’s fun and all. You have an excuse to be unresponsive and tend to finish relatively early. I’ll be damned though if it isn’t bad for all parties involved. I’m not a morning person, at all. I take some time to get started, and boring lectures aren’t helping that process. I understand there’s people who are though, those who kickstart every day and then fall into the “do nothing” zone later in the day. They’re wasting their free-time afternoons though.

So what if, and this is just a wild suggestion, what if we had subjects centered around the middle of the day. There’s something in it for everyone. It’s not too early, not too late, and you won’t be traveling in the pitch black dark when winter comes. The groggy wakers have a couple hours to actually wake up and the kickstarters are still in their peak when classes start. This makes for less contrast between student energy levels as well, probably resulting in better communication and cooperation.
(I know there’s all kinds of scheduling technicalities involved and I’m sort of asking the impossible, but I can dream, right?)

I’ll… probably do a half-assed attempt at getting back to Caves tomorrow if I can find the time. Gulp.

And this is exactly why in my later University years I insisted on afternoon classes.

Anything before noon is too early.

Spend a year long getting up at 5:45 and then coming home at 19:30 maybe even later cause of train delay. Just get used to it really, have a good sleep schedule. Find out how much hours of sleep you need.

There are places that do have school later in the day actually. I’m not sure how prevalent they are though. A friend of mine is up at about six every day for school and it doesn’t seem very fun for her either. She can still be pretty perky but that’s just a benefit of ADD.
