Why can't I hold all these slogans?

It makes you happy, who would’ve thought!

I’ve been genuinely happy doing my day-to-day business lately. Previously it was the usual “I’m bored”, “there’s nothing fun to do” kind of stuff. But now I’m filling up my spare time with all kinds of productive things. Of course there’s gamedev, but I’m doing some minor art things as well, I’m learning how Blender works, studying maths, and hell, I may even start to try and get into music production soon!

Sure I may not always be super motivated to do those things, but I enjoy them nonetheless. And that’s great, I’m spending my free time being productive AND enjoying myself. What more could I possibly wish for?
Don’t get me wrong, I was happy with things before, but it didn’t feel this good. Okay, that sounded pretty weird, but I don’t really have a better way of putting it. It’s just, well, I’m even more happy, I guess? (It is at this point my parents will start thinking I have gone on drugs. (There is no drug better than gamedev.))

Moral of the story is you should just do whatever you want. And if it’s productive, that’s just a great bonus! You learn new skills, get better at your existing ones, gain field experience, and you may even be able to make some cash with it! If doing what you want isn’t very productive that’s okay too though. It’s not like I’m pushing you to get some more useful things done, not at all.

Triple-sarcasm is so much fun to pull off. Too bad it’s usually seen as just sarcasm.

Hey, I’m living proof of this. I’m not rich, and probably never will be, but I’m happy, dammit, and that counts for something.

Of course doing what you love is important. It’s how marriages work. I have slight issues with the fact that what I’m doing now is something I’m enjoying, it’s something very productive and fun, but it’s also something I don’t stand to ever be able to make money from. It sucks but I soldier on. As a wise dog in a photo was once captioned as saying; “money not important, loves important.”
