Sites being down

They aren’t depressed, just down.

I haven’t been feeling extremely well today. I can handle it, but the fact that MSPA was still down for most of the day didn’t help. Once it got back up, I caught up with the updates, enjoyed them (there he is, the biggest douche in the universe), and moved on. Only to then find out a few other sites were experiencing some downtime as well.

Hosting providers seem to get increasingly incompetent. You know that huge half-internet blackout we had a while ago? GoDaddy ballsed up, most of their servers were down due to human error. How can they make a slip-up like that? That’s not the kind of mistake you can afford when you’re as big as them!

Really though, downtime on the internet is the worst. It isn’t always really bad, but you’re used to everything just snapping into place quickly, instead of being presented with a page that just won’t load. Internet these days is pretty much a must to have. It isn’t that way by law yet though. That needs to change, but that’s a topic for a separate post.

For now, be thankful that you have the internet.

A website I frequent had a fair bit of things going wrong today but they generally do sometimes. Most of the time I don’t notice things being down, or slow. Yay for the intranets.
