Amateur Everything

It’s been like this for a while, but my internet provider has blocked The Pirate Bay.

I still can access it, since Me in IT provides us with a convenient way to visit it, but it’s just so lame to have content blocked from you. Sure, they were pressured by law into not providing access to The Pirate Bay, but they might as well’ve been pressured into blocking, say, blogger.com because some Blogonauts spread word of how bad the Dutch government is. I don’t know, but it’s web censoring, and I’m heavily against that.

Sure, copyright infringement and all, but torrents are also an easy way to share large files with a group of people without driving to their houses with a USB. Filesharing in general is still a really hard task when it comes to files larger than about 2 MB, since they can’t be emailed and filesharing sites don’t always provide the best service.

Oh well, what’re we gonna do about it, I guess. Hope we’ll get some better anti-censorship policies after the elections here, but I think the economic crisis comes first. The fuckers shouldn’t pull away money from our education though.

I thought Pirate Bay was blocked ages ago?

The world will be a better place when schools have all the money they need, and the air force needs to hold a bake sale to buy a bomber.

My ISP has blocked TPB too. It’s not stopped me in the slightest. But if it was me paying for the net I would switch providers over it. As it is, I’ll just continue to dick the system while they punish the innocent. Censorship laws only punish the innocent. Torrenting isn’t even illegal. Only downloading copyrighted material.
