Fang Talks

Bananas, in pajamas

I just blindly wrote the layout for a website, with my only aid being the design and my experience.

Block here, block there, align this to there and make this automatically do that. I didn’t even test it while I was writing it. I just ran through the empty file, plonked down blocks of code from mind, attached a custom-written stylesheet to it, and kept on trucking, all the way assuming it would work properly.
I just tested it, and guess what? Flawless. Perfectly done one-take coding.

Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t mean to boast, but it feels so good to be so experienced with something that you can just blindly do it, without having to check and double-check whether or not it actually works or if you’ve got a lot of bug fixing ahead of you.

I guess this goes for most skills actually, but the more complex ones seem much more satisfying, especially if you can do it with two fingers in your nose, both literally and figuratively.

Any of you guys so damn skilled with something that you can do it blindly?

    That feeling truly is awesome.
It’s really amazing, how complex a system one can build from their imagination.

A lot of thanks to the subconscious that’s constantly checking the code and pointing out run-time errors before running the code.

I don’t think I do anything blindly, and if I am it means I’m getting cocky and I’m going to screw up soon.

Other than touch typing not really but I guess I just don’t have that many skills. I would find being able to code like that a serious achievement :)
