Fang Talks

Software Engineer

Spent half my day today installing Windows 7 on a different partition and getting it to work properly with the help of incredibly shitty drivers.

And, well, it works! I’ll mostly be using it for gaming, but if I ever need to run some Windows program quickly, I can also run the partition as a virtual machine. Pretty damn convenient, if I do say so myself!

However, I’ve rarely used Windows, and have pretty much zero experience with Windows 7. Settings seems jumbled and all over the place, and this, and that.
I know most of you run Windows as a native OS, so I ask of you: any tips, tricks, or knowledge for people new to the OS?
I’m not asking for fucking computer lessons, I can figure shit out myself as well, but surely there are some tweaks that are extremely useful yet easy to miss. Programs, themes, widgets, you name it!

Any and all responses would be much appreciated. You’ll earn a small place in my heart for ever and ever until I run out of space and have to dedicate it to someone else!

Introduction day of school tomorrow. Kind of nervous!

I switched to Gentoo years ago but my advice would be to get a good registry cleaner and learn how that stuff really controls the OS.

Ok, so the little arrow thing on your screen is controlled by your mouse.

In all seriousness, I don’t know any tips unfortunately. Best of luck with classes, I go back next week.

You’ll be fine with school and I’m sure anything I can tell you about Windows will be something you can just work out yourself. I already have a place in your heart anyway <3
