Google Fiber

So, Google is launching their own internet service provider: Google Fiber.

If you just want the internet connection, that’s a one-time 300$ fee for getting the cable work done, and 0$ per month for the internet itself. That’s right, zero Dollars. Free internet! Imagine that!

So far, they’re polling as to what places in America have the highest demand for their service, and will start doing the cabling according to that. They have stated, however, that they don’t intend to make it something huge. Instead, they want to set an example for other internet providers, to switch to optic fiber.

That’s cool and all, technically free internet, but doesn’t it sound kind of dubious? Will I instantly get a “conspiracy theorist” label slapped onto me if I say I find it a bit scary that Google is now providing people with internet connections? Google is known to collect all kinds of data from its users without necessarily needing to, so who knows, maybe they will track and trace all the data sent over the web by their Fiber customers?

On another note, sorry for not checking most of your blogs lately. I’m a bit busy with managing this and that, and you know how it goes.

I wouldn’t want Google providing my internet. They track absolutely everything and I think that’s one of the reasons it’s free. Call me a conspiracy theorist but I wouldn’t be surprised if they were selling the info plus, well, I don’t want Google knowing what I do.
