Seriously, I’ve been wondering for a while. What exactly is the point of warring again?

So one country wants more power. Okay, nothing out of the ordinary. It hates another country so it’s all like “yeah lets declare war and claim their land and yadda yadda”. So they start this feud and lots of innocent people leave both countries and/or get killed in the process. Stock resources of both countries dwindle, they spend a shitload of money on weapons, etc. etc.

In the end, one of the two countries wins (or an external party interferes), and some other stuff happened. But let’s take a look here: say country 1 overtook country 2, and they now own country 2. Their property, they can do whatever they want with it, and so on.
But what did they have to sacrifice for that? Hundreds of thousands if not millions of lives, from both the military and the ordinary innocent people who may have very well been against the war. It’s a loss that’s suffered on both sides, and not exactly the most morally acceptable one.

Now, take a look at the Cold War. It was basically a bunch of folks bluffing up against each other, constantly looking at who got the biggest… stock of nuclear missiles and military power. Nothing happened, and it settled like that.
Okay sure nothing of interest happened, but lets take an example from this. Isn’t it more strategically advisable to just show each other your cards and check who’d win? Or pull out a random number generator if the odds are even. I’m very well aware that it’d never work that way in this mean big world of ours, but one can dream, right?

I know this is a really very simplified look on war, but it’s what it boils down to, right? And if it wasn’t for the idealists, where would the world be today?

Opinions, anyone?

War is a lose-lose situation to any country since by the time they acquire the resources of another country, it would have been already spent and there would be little to no value. Warmongers gets the best out of this deal since they sell weapons and get rich without any side effects.

War tends to occur simply because of greed. Someone wants more land, someone wants more power, more oil etc etc. I think if someone invades your country then you damn well fight to protect it though.

No but really, War sucks. In fact, the world just plain sucks.
All important people have grabby hands and don’t care what has to be destroyed in order for them to get their price.
I don’t dwell on it for too long because I get angry.

I don’t really like war really, and I don’t think I can ever try and give a reason for it. I would be able to abide by it more though if we banned the bomb, and innocent civilians were unharmed. Let the people who want to fight, fight. Specifically the politicians who start it all. Just let them fight it out.
