Fang Talks

Double-reverse irony

Truth be told, I never really got into the Mega Man series. I played a bit sometimes, but no major play-throughs or anything.

BUT THAT’S TOTALLY OKAY! Why? This post isn’t about my personal opinion. It’s one I took from and now share with Egoraptor. You may know him for his parody flashes on Newgrounds. The dude’s awesome. In his sequel review series “Sequelitis”, he reviews, well, sequels. He compares them to the original game, and why it’s an improvement or a huge letdown.

This particular episode really caught my eye. It’s not because of the games it’s about, but rather the points it addresses. Serious issues in the modern-day gaming industry. His hilarious and unique style however makes it not just another tedious review, but a good informative piece that’s fun to watch.

Below I have embedded the video for you guys. If you ever thought of making a game, you have no excuse to watch this. These are the very essentials of game design, so you’d better make sure you know what it’s all about.
And even if you’re not intending to do anything related to games ever, I still strongly recommend you watch this. Stick around for the first minute at least, it’ll get you hooked.

I’ve watched this, like, five times already, and it’s still amazing.

I’ve seen this a few months ago during release. Out of the 3 sequelitis episodes he made, this is the most awesome of them all. I’m an avid Megaman player and played all versions of the game (Battle Network doesn’t count) so I pretty much experienced all those points he was talking about. I can’t count how many times I’ve rewatched this episode, it feels so short even though it’s 20 minutes long.

I agree with Adam. X was one of the best MM games, nice review.

I always start watching egoraptor videos thinking “i’ve seen this before, but i guess i’ll just watch the first couple of minutes again…”

and then watch the entire thing and then several more on his channel. So good.

I remember having Megaman on the NES. That was a pretty good game. He makes an excellent point about how even though games seem geared towards adults, they are designed to retards. I noticed it in Arkham City. It tells you what to do every time you have to do something. No matter how far in the game you are. I fucking love Egoraptor, and right now he’s making me glad I have a Super Nintendo. I must own Megaman X. I must.

I never liked the X series as much as the original series, but the first X game was one of the best MM games ever made. Just had many awful sequels.
