My oh my am I getting impatient over here!
As most of you may not know, Intel is releasing a new set of processors this April. They feature the new Ivy Bridge, a pretty strong improvement over the current Sandy Bridge lineup. And with Apple’s Macbook Pro nearing the end of its product cycle and rumours flying around like crazy, I’ve got my hopes up about a new model coming out soon.
If I wanted I probably could’ve had a Macbook Pro by now, but I decided to wait. Expecting great things from the new processors that will, without a doubt, be in the new generation MBPs. But I’m getting a bit impatient. I expect them to be released near the end of April, but if they aren’t out by then I’m going to be severely disappointed.
Rumour has it that the new MPBs will be more like the Airs, especially when it comes to size. Apple may also have dropped the video card on the lower-end models due to the Ivy Bridge processors being able to handle that load all by themselves. It also won’t be much of a surprise if they end up getting rid of the optical drive to make it thinner and more light-weight, much like the rumour that they’ll only come with SSDs from now on.
The loss of the optical drive and pure SSD won’t bother me. In fact, I rarely use my optical drive, and have been wanting an SSD anyway. The video card thing is really stupid though. They’ll stick video cards in the higher-ends, sure, but it’ll probably be one of those shitty Intel ones. I would’ve preferred it if they went through with their plan to switch back to nVidia cards, but no.
I’ll just have to muster up the patience a bit longer, and hope it turns out well.
