As you may or may not know, I’m a bit of an audiophile. (Please don’t judge me.)
I’m not the kind of guy who buys music (usually just pirate it all the way, but you don’t know that), but it really surprised me when I discovered that the iTunes Store doesn’t offer lossless, not even in ALAC (Apple Lossless Audio Codec, Apple’s own lossless codec).
For people who solely and only listen to lossless, the is a huge letdown, and stopts them from purchasing anything from the store at all. And that’s a pretty amount of people we’re talking about.
Besides, it really wouldn’t be that hard. Bandcamp, for example, gives you lots of different formats to choose from. And even after your purchase and initial download, you can always download the other codecs.
How? They want the creator to hand them a lossless file, and they’ll convert it for them. Convenient, nay?
So yeah, Apple is being an ass again.
