I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but it's getting kind of out of hand.
Literally everything's on KickStarter these days. Even projects that don't need much more than two-hundred bucks of funding go there to get their money. It seems kind of weird to prematurely pull money from the masses just for that. May be just me, though.
There's a lot of different things being funded. Consoles, books, social projects, you name it!
...okay I ballsed up this post a bit. I was going to rant about how stupid it is people go there to have their social experiments funded and all, but I just realized it's actually pretty cool. I still think that quite a few of those would've been very well possible without the five-hundred dollars funding goal, but hey, at least the (often great) ideas are being executed!
Also, Google stocks dropped by about 8% today due to a bunch of figures leaking out. Say goodbye to your economy, all!
