Or rather, a non-dead wire. (Also, huge post title there!)
So, I returned my guitar a while back, due to it not working properly and it having scratches all over it. Got a new one today.
It didn't have a lot of scratches on it, the coating was completely in-tact, and it looked pretty good overall. A new guitar, sweet.
However, they kept all of the other parts from the kit the same, didn't replace them or anything. Hell, they even sent it in the same box as the first one. Cheap bastards.
So I went ahead and plugged it in before unpacking anything of the other stuff. Strum, strum. Silence, silence. Exact same problem as with the first guitar, what the fuck.
Went over to a friend of mine, tried it at his place (may have been a power net issue), not working. Tried with his wire (the one from guitar to amp, is there a special name for that?), and BOOM, we had sound!
Okay, amazing, so the wire was fucking with me all along. But now I need a new one to replace this CPOS (cheap piece of shit, for those of you who missed a vital part of their education). Onwards, to the local electronics store!
Bought myself a nice 6-meter long (double the size of the broken one) one, with a tough, woven outside. It's so cash. (Yeah but my wallet is no longer. (Though I earned quite a bit recently, but I should be saving.))
tl;dr: Got a new guitar, the wire turned out to be dead, bought a new one, and am now capable of rocking at home, not having to freeleech my friend's gear.
Expect a video of me playing the chords version of The House of the Rising Sun or some shit soon. Maybe even tomorrow (or Sunday, depends on how well the video-editing goes).
ROCK ON, MOTHERFUCKERS!
